CHINA. Kwangtung. 7 Mace 2 Candareens (Dollar), ND (1890-1908). NGC SPECIMEN-64.L&M-133; K-26; KM-Y-203; WS-0941. Heaton Mint dies. This popular issue represents the changeover from the older style dragon and layout to the more elegant, "new" style which would become standard. A shimmering near Gem presenting steely gray surfaces and intense, radiating luster, this great example--RARE in this elite state of preservation--stands in a rather lofty position, as just two have been graded finer in the NGC census. Far superior to a somewhat similar specimen, a PCGS SP-61, that realized a total of $36,000 in July 2020.
