1831. BD-1, High Rarity 6. NGC graded AU-58. Popular type coin of which about 50 to 100 exist for the date. The vast majority of the quarter eagles struck were melted as gold became of higher value than that stated on the coins. Hence these were gathered up and melted for the profit. This one shows a bold strike, nice surfaces with attractive yellow gold color. Free of detractions and a rare and desirable issue in any grade. A nice untoned example. Only 4,520 struck. Pop 12; 41 finer at NGC. (PCGS # 7671) <DOTLEADER> Estimated Value $13,000 - 14,000
