1870 Pattern Quarter Dollar. Silver, reeded edge. Judd-888. Pollock-987. Rarity 5. PCGS graded Proof 67. CAC. Gorgeous rainbow toning on both sides which shows fiery russet around the rims with the centers both showing delicate teal and pastel hues. The strike is sharp, and the surfaces are essentially perfect. The obverse is the usual Standard Silver style, with Liberty wearing a cap with three stars, a ribbon in her hair states LIBERTY in raised letters. For the reverse an open cereal wreath is found, within which is 25 / CENTS / 1870 and above the wreath is STANDARD. Although this is a fairly plentiful issue for a pattern coin, this one is so superlative, it should bring a strong price for its amazing quality and eye appeal. Pop 1; tied with an NGC PF-67 for the finest graded examples at both services. (PCGS # 61132) <DOTLEADER> Estimated Value $5,000 - UP
