The obverse and reverse are struck from the regular dies but in copper instead of the expected gold planchet. Additional patterns were struck in extremely limited numbers by these dies in nickel and silver. Deep brown toning on both sides, the obverse with varying flashes of brilliant reflectivity in the fields.
