1827 O-120a, Rarity 3. NGC graded MS-67. A lovely mostly untoned gem that is brilliant silver in color with a pale dusting of golden hues. All the devices are well struck, including the central curls on Liberty and all the eagles feathers. This coin is the finest known of this die variety by two grade points. It was sold in the Kaufman Collection many years ago. The surfaces are as close to perfection as any collector could hope to find. On this die variety, there are numerous die scratches (seen on all coins produced from this die) below Libertys bust. These are simply a part of the hand made die process, and add to the charm of these historic and popular coins. This example is simply astounding in quality and it would be unimaginable to find any example of this date in higher grade. It would be hard to imagine a more perfect example of this type, with satiny luster and untouched fields and devices in full abundance. A stellar coin that will always be a centerpiece in an advanced collection. Pop 1; the finest example graded at both services. <DOTLEADER> Estimated Value $25,000 - UP
