1803. Large 8. LM-2, Rarity-4. PCGS graded AU-58. CAC. PQ. Nice even toning of deep golden gray with slightly lighter silver on the high points of the design. The strike is amazing as Libertys hair curls show incredible separation and bold definition. A scarce variety in all grades, and this magnificent coin represents our countries smallest silver coin at the time of issue, and is of historical significance. Rarely are these early half dimes found this well preserved, and so enticing numismatically. A prize for the astute numismatist. Very close to Mint State. Only 37,850 struck. Pop 6; 7 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 4269) <DOTLEADER> Estimated Value $7,500 - 8,000
