Elford, Tingcombe & Clark. 1825 LETTER TO PERKINS & HEATH REGARDING PLATES FOR £1 NOTE ON THE PLYMOUTH BANK. Written on two sides of a sheet of a plain double-sheet self-mailer. Folded for mailing and sealed with wax; torn upon opening, with small loss attached to wax remnant. Trace of red postmark; good black postmark; hand-rated. Very good.An interesting letter discussing changes to be made to plates engraved by the Perkins firm for use by the Plymouth Bank. The letter specifically discusses counterfeiting, as the writers "accept your offer of guaranteeing us from forgery upon condition of your further decorating the plate..."From the Heather Hardin-Hudson Collection
