1800 Draped Bust Half Dime. LM-4. Rarity-7. LIBEKTY. Fine Details--Bent (PCGS).A steel and pewter gray example of this highly respected rarity among early half dime die marriages. Overall detail is relatively bold for the grade, notable softness of detail confined to the lower left reverse border and the left obverse periphery. Even so, the only major design element that is entirely absent is the letter L in LIBERTY. The date is full, and the obverse and reverse diagnostics of the variety are plainly evident. Aside from the bend, which nearly bisects the coin horizontally, several prominent marks in and around the centers and minor rim disturbances along the left border on both sides are noted. The 1800 LM-4 half dime is highly elusive at all levels of preservation.PCGS# 4265. NGC ID: 2326.From our Baltimore Auction of November 2016, lot 4071.
