1858 Flying Eagle Cent. Large Letters, High Leaves (Style of 1857), Type I. MS-65 (PCGS). CAC.A beautiful and prooflike example with considerable reflectivity in the fields on both sides. The devices are sharply defined and richly frosted, remaining fully untouched across the high points. Overall toned in bright peach hues with a crescent of powder blue toning at the right reverse rim. This is an exceptionally lustrous Gem type candidate from the brief Flying Eagle cent series of 1856 to 1858. Even though all 1858 Flying Eagle cents are readily available in most grades up through Choice Mint State, finding an especially well struck example is particularly challenging. This is especially so for the Large Letters coins, as there are very few at the Gem level of preservation.PCGS# 2019. NGC ID: 2277.
