Five raised bands divide the spine into six panels, the second with the title, the fourth with the volume, and LONDON 1885 at the base, all lettered in gilt. Page tops also finished in gilt. The set of a researcher or collector with extensive penciled notations on specimens either acquired or observed, mostly during the 1920s, as dates are given at many entries.
