According to Duplessy author of "Les Monnaies Francaises Royales" this type first began being emitted on June 8, 1339. A lustrous, nicely preserved and attractive survivor with well defined central devices on a broad flan with full complete legends, though a shade uneven with a small portion of the obverse and reverse not as bold as the rest of the design. Minor evidence of being double struck primarily contained to the legends where some of the letters appear to have shifted slightly. A handsome example of this popular type displaying attractive honey-gold tone with a slight orange hue adding to its originality and desirability sure to see spirited bidding.
