Central America./em This "restrike" of the 1855 Kellogg & Co. $50 was produced using new dies created from the old, and coined from gold recovered during the recovery of the sunken ship. The obverse depicts a head of Liberty facing left by Ferdinand Gruner, with stars around, and the date 1855 below. The reverse shows a standing eagle holding a shield, with inscription surrounding. The tiny imprint features the striking date and C.H.S. above the eagle, as appropriate identification.
