Brown or black on buff paper, the last with capital overprinted in red. Sir Eleazor Silas Kadoorie KBE (1867-1944), businessman and philanthropist. From the extremely wealthy family of Jewish businessmen, originally from Bagdad, then Bombay and finally settling in Shanghai. He was imprisoned in 1942 by the Japanese and died in Prison 2 years later. There was a boom in HK registered companies operating in Malaya before the war and was one of the most active components of both the HK and Shanghai Stock exchanges. The company was registered in HK but with its Head Office in Shanghai.The first cancelled, AVF and EF (3).
