MYSIA. Pergamon. Kingdom of Pergamon. Eumenes I, 263-241 B.C. AR Tetradrachm (16.66 gms), Pergamon Mint, ca. 255/0-241 B.C. NGC MS, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 3/5. Fine Style. SNG BN-1618. Struck in the name of Philetairos. Obverse: Laureate head of Philetairos right; Reverse: Athena seated left on throne, resting elbow upon shield to right and crowning dynastic name to left; transverse spear in background, grape bunch to outer left, A to inner left, bow to right. Offering a highly expressive portrait of the former king, this attractive example presents great centering and relief. Some minor roughness is noted, though it does not get in the way of the artistry.
