CHINA. Bimetallic Proof 500 Yuan, 1995. Panda Series. NGC Proof Details -- Tooled Gold Shield. Fr-B50; KM-728; PAN-241a. Mintage: 199. This example is #074 (specified on holder). The obverse depicts two pandas sitting next to a stream with the denomination above and bamboo and mountains in the background. The only other issue from this year that shares this same design is the 50 Yuan 5 ounce silver which has a significantly larger mintage. We notice a small almost imperceptible area of disturbance on the right arm of the Panda on the left which accounts for the details designation, otherwise a RARE, brilliant and attractive example with hard mirrored fields and frosted cameo devices. Free of tone, haze or fog.
