Van Buren, Arkansas. White & Hanley. January 25, 1862. 25 Cents. PCGS Currency Extremely Fine 40. Rothert 665-1. Plate C. Jan. 25, 1862. Printed on thin, brown paper. The cartouches at each side spell out other businesses who would accept these notes. Obligation "….CONFEDERATE NOTES will be paid for the same." There were a number of this issuer in the collective Newman sales, but this was the single finest one and the only one that graded better than Very Fine. A cool piece and beautiful for what it is.
