Fr. 294. 1886 $10 Silver Certificate. PMG Choice Uncirculated 63. The entire 1886 Silver Certificate series has always been a collector favorite as it features highly ornate styling along with the beautiful large seals or multiple types. The back designs are all beautiful with this $10 note showing with intricate geometric patterns covering nearly the entire reverse. It is estimated that only around 85 notes survived of this variety, nearly all of which are in lower grades than the example offered here. The present piece is extremely appealing with strong overprints. The embossing can easily be seen through its busy yet intricate back design. PMG has only graded one finer for this Friedberg number, a 66EPQ, which has never been offered in public sale. PMG Pop 1/1 finer.
