Excellent quality throughout with only a faint trace of mounting evident from its removal from the original New England Bank Note Company archive book (sold as individual proofs at the 1999 Smythe Memphis sale). Unique, boldly printed and vibrant. Stunning quality for this proof series. Previously sold in our March 2015 Peter Mayer Collection Part III sale for $1,762.50. He obtained it directly at that Memphis auction. A striking type. All proof denominations from $5 and upwards from this final "ABC" monogram series are unique to our knowledge. As a vignette type, unquestionably one of the iconic types from Massachusetts.
