1861-S Liberty Head Double Eagle. AU-58 (PCGS). After a small number of Paquet Reverse double eagles were coined early in the year, the San Francisco Mint struck 768,000 Liberty double eagles of Longacres regular design. This impressive near-Mint representative shows just a trace of wear on the well-detailed design elements and the lightly abraded green-gold surfaces retain much of their original mint luster.
