1868 Liberty Head Eagle. AU-58 (NGC). Traces of original prooflike mint luster remain on the yellow-gold surfaces, a rather typical phenomenon, given the low mintage of only 10,630 circulation strikes. Light field wear and tiny marks combine with a few larger marks under the eagles wing and on Libertys, neck. Still, this is an extremely appealing coin for the assigned grade. Mint State examples are rarely offered.
