1850-D Liberty Head Half Eagle. AU Details--Improperly Cleaned (NGC). Bright and glossy from an old cleaning, but uncommonly well defined in a survivor of this challenging Dahlonega Mint issue. The surfaces are toned in pale khaki-gold color and a light reflectivity shimmers throughout the fields. An old, thin mark at Libertys lips has been long worn into the surfaces. Elusive in all grades due to having seen extensive circulation, the 1850-D half eagle is typically represented by well worn, if not also impaired survivors. This overall satisfying AU survivor shows superior sharpness from this mintage of 43,984 pieces.
