1880-O Morgan Silver Dollar. VAM-48. MS-63 (PCGS). CAC. OGH. This fully struck, otherwise frosty white example is further enhanced by blushes of iridescent reddish-apricot here and there around the borders. A well known and highly regarded rarity in Gem Mint State, the 1880-O is also scarce at the uppermost reaches of Choice quality. The present example is as nice as many MS-64s that we have offered in recent memory, and it is sure to sell for a strong premium. Diagnostics of the 1880-O VAM-48 attribution include doubling to the digits 1 and second 8 in the date, the UNI in UNITED and the leaf in the wreath below the latter two letters. There is also a reverse die gouge emerging from the first tail feather from the viewers left that gives this variety its "Hangnail Eagle" nickname.
