1921-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar. AU Details--Whizzed (NGC). An incredibly sharp example of this popular Key-Date issue with strong eye appeal for the assigned grade. The fields show an unusual smoothness under a glass but are free from any distracting areas. The patina is uniform and appealing in-hand, with a dusting of pale vanilla patina over pearly-grey surfaces. The 1921-S is the rarest issue of this popular 20th century type in Mint State grades, and it is also highly elusive in the finer circulated grades such as Choice EF and AU. Indeed, the vast majority of survivors from a mintage of 548,000 pieces are well worn and in the AG to VG grade range, making this bold AU example a significant fined. Quite pleasing in most regards, we anticipate strong interest in this sharp example.
