1926-S Lincoln Cent. MS-64 RB (PCGS). CAC. Toned in a blend of orange-apricot and chocolate brown hues with considerable luster in the fields. A late die state on the reverse leaves the devices somewhat indistinct with several narrow cracks in the upper field, though this is as-struck and will add considerable appeal for specialists. The 1926-S is a low mintage affair by the standards of the Lincoln cent series with just 4,550,000 pieces produced. It has long been regarded a semi to full key date issue in all grades, and most collectors have had to settle for a worn example either due to availability or cost. Very scarce in all Mint State grades and even scarcer with traces of original mint Red, as here. The 1926-S is a noteworthy condition rarity that is always greeted with excitement when offered through auction. Only 24 rank finer in this category, though a green CAC sticker surely indicates the superior quality of this piece.
