1786 New Jersey Copper. Maris 15-J, W-4815. Rarity-4. Leaning Head. VG-10 (PCGS). Dominant charcoal-copper patina with intermingled golden-brown highlights on both sides. Upper left reverse border is close to the top of the letters in NOVA, reverse better centered on the planchet. Obverse die swell has weakened the area toward the right border, as well as the letters in UNUM on the reverse, E in E PLURIBUS also somewhat faint. The surfaces are hard and tight in hand with no mentionable marks apart from a shallow graze through the digits 17 in the date.
