1774 Machins Mills Halfpenny. Vlack 5-74A, W-7760. Rarity-4. GEORGIVS III, Group I. Fine-12 (PCGS). 120.2 grains. Ruddy golden-brown patina blankets both sides, the reverse with a few swirls of olive-russet in the center and at the upper left border. A touch of softness is evident at the right obverse and reverse borders, but otherwise this piece retains bold outline detail to all major features with the design fully appreciable. Hard and tight with no marks of note. This is a moderately scarce variety in the Machins Mills halfpenny series, represented here by a pleasing PCGS-certified Fine.
