1774 Machins Mills Halfpenny. Vlack 3-74A, W-7750. Rarity-6. GEORGIVS III, Group I. VF Details--Environmental Damage (PCGS). 112.8 grains. A predominantly dark olive-copper example with lighter rose-brown patina to the devices. The strike is off center to the upper obverse, affecting only the denticulation, while the reverse is better centered, yet devoid of denticulation from 1 to 5 oclock. All major design elements are boldly outlined, the surfaces free of significant marks, yet with an overall rough texture to explain the PCGS qualifier. This is a scarce variety, the present example with bolder definition than most that we have offered in recent years.
