1786 Connecticut Copper. Miller 4.1-G, W-2525. Rarity-3. Mailed Bust Left. VF-30 (PCGS). 131.8 grains. Warm autumn-brown patina blankets both sides of this satiny, tight and overall smooth example. A few trivial flan flaws and planchet pits are evident in the centers on both sides, as well as near the upper left reverse border, but they are mentioned here solely for accuracy. Struck slightly off center to 7-8 oclock on the obverse, 10-11 oclock on the reverse, the letters AUCT in AUCTORI and NDE in INDE are a bit soft, yet still legible. The central reverse is also soft, but most major design elements on both sides are well outlined, and many are bold for the grade. Appreciably glossy, this is a handsome mid grade example of both the type and die pairing. Collector envelope with attribution notation included.
