1783 Nova Constellatio Copper. Crosby 2-B, W-1865. Rarity-2. CONSTELLATIO, Pointed Rays, Small U.S. VF-35 (PCGS). This is an overall sharply defined example with plenty of bold detail remaining to the eye in the center of the obverse, the letters U.S in the center of the reverse. Warmly patinated in sandy-brown, tinges of pale pink are discernible as the coin dips into a light. A few wispy handling marks are noted for accuracy, as is microscopic roughness and pitting, although most areas present as smooth in hand. The reverse is rotated approximately 45 degrees clockwise from coin alignment. A well balanced mid grade example of both the type and die pairing.
