1741-A Sou Marque. Paris Mint. Vlack-20a. Rarity-5. Second Semester. MS-63 (PCGS). The date side exhibits dominant pewter gray patina with splashes or rich charcoal-russet and olive-copper around the periphery. For the other side of the coin we note similar peripheral patina around a center that exhibits blended pewter gray and sandy-gold. Both sides are lustrous and satiny with a sharply executed strike. This is by far the scarcer variety of the 1741-A sou marque issue, the addition of a tiny dot in the field below the letter D in LUD signifying that this coin was among those struck during the last six months of the year.
