Fully struck.A rare and popular issue, the 1965 Assay Commission medal features an adaptation of John Ward Dunsmores historically fictitious painting <em>Washington Inspecting the First Money Coined by the United States</em>. The estimated mintage of 50 medals for this issue includes 22 examples for the commissioners, plus perhaps as many as 28 additional pieces produced for distribution to Mint officials and others.
