Undated (ca. 1883) Evacuation of New York Centennial Medal. Uniface Obverse Die Trial. Lead. 42.9 mm x 43.1 mm. Obverse of Musante GW-1008 to 1010, Baker-457 to 457H, U-324. Choice Mint State. Uniform pewter gray patina, the struck portion with fully rendered design elements and a modestly semi-reflective field area. This highly distinctive bust reappears on medals for the Constitution and Inaugural Centennials and a low-relief version graces a U.S. Mint pattern nickel, also by Morgan.
