Hong Kong Treaty Ports Tientsin 1874 (1 Jan.) printed entire to Hong Kong from E.Meyer & Co announcing changes to their business, sent printed paper rate and bears 1863-71 2c. pale brown just tied by "B62" in black and, on the reverse, Hong Kong code "C" arrival c.d.s. (2.1); there is some light ageing and reinforced folds where the paper is beginning to split.A rare and desirable item of early mail from Tientsin. This letter was sent before the 1882 packet agency was established in Tientsin and it is thought that the limited items of post were sent via the British Consulate and carried directly to Shanghai or Hong Kong where the mail was cancelled. A fantastic cover of great exhibition calibre. Photo
