An incredibly majestic and awe-inspiring strongRARITY/strong, this unique piece, struck twice the weight of the single rose noble, can be traced all the way back to the Westhoff Collection from 1848. Featuring a great strike that is perfectly centered on a flan of good metal, this singular specimen may, in fact, have been intended to be a proposed type or example of the fine work that could be produced so soon after Gelderland broke from the Spanish Netherlands and joined the protestant Union of Utrecht.
