Coelius Caldus right; tablet inscribed L D (Libero : Damno) to left, COS below; Reverse: CALDVS III VIR, radiate head of Sol right; to left, S above oblong shield ornamented with thunderbolt; circular Macedonian shield to right. Offering great centering for the type, this exquisite specimen features light toning with golden highlights and lustrous brilliance. A rather strongSCARCE /strongtype, this example would appear to have a slight dig on the temple of Caldus. However, close examination with others reveals that this is merely in the die as a barely noticeable flaw.
