IONIA. Uncertain. EL 1/3 Stater (4.68 gms), ca. 650-600 B.C. NGC MS, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 4/5.Rosen-25; SNG von Aulock-7761; Boston MFA-1749. Obverse: Globular surface with cluster of pellets; Reverse: Two incuse square punches. A pleasing example of this early type, presenting no evidence of wear and a good deal of lustrous brilliance. The cluster of pellets on the obverse may be an attempt at a crude grape bunch, though an exact attribution is not certain.
