1834 American Eagle medal. Musante GW-147,Baker-55A. White Metal. Engrailed edge. AU-58 (PCGS).49.8 mm. Pierced for suspension, somewhat crudely so. However, the piece does not appear to have seen heavy wear and abuse as is frequently the case with other holed specimens. Almost lead gray in tone and consistently so. A few small spots are noted as is a thin scratch near the piercing on the reverse, but otherwise this is a rather nice example. It is quite sharp and the date on the high point of the scroll, July 4, 1776, which is often lost or not fully struck, is strong.Ex William Spohn Baker Collection, to the Historical Society of Pennsylvania by bequest, November 15, 1897.
