Circa 1847 Washington Temperance Society Declaration medal. Musante GW-172, Baker-328C. Brass. MS-65 (PCGS).41.6 mm. Beautiful golden brass dominates both sides while accents of rose, violet and pale blue iridescence are seen close to the rims. A superb specimen with bold reflectivity, virtually no visible signs of handling and exceptional eye appeal. Very rare, according to Musante even more so than the copper piece above, though our archives include neither format. One of a three-piece set acquired intact in the 1882 Bushnell sale.Ex Charles I. Bushnell, S.H. and H. Chapman, June 1882, lot 1414 (part); William Spohn Baker Collection, to the Historical Society of Pennsylvania by bequest, November 15, 1897.
