Circa 1805 Peace of 1783 medal. Musante GW-92, Baker-58A, Julian CM-5. Copper, Bronzed. SP-65 (PCGS).40.3 mm. 567.1 grains. Beautifully satin surfaces show just a hint of gentle reflectivity in the fields, but enough to nicely complement the sharp motifs. Lovely deep reddish brown and very uniform, as the bronzing was almost perfectly accomplished. A few tiny spots are noted on the obverse while neither side has any marks beyond a couple of trivial hairlines. Aesthetically, this is about as nice as this medal is ever seen.Ex William Spohn Baker Collection, to the Historical Society of Pennsylvania by bequest, November 15, 1897.
