Circa 1803 Fame medal electrotype obverse. Musante GW-87, var., Baker-84, var. Copper Shell on White Metal. AU-58 (PCGS).38.7 mm. 202.2 grains. Medium chocolate brown surfaces with areas of darker patina through the legends and scattered flecks in the fields. Thin outlines of red are noted around the central device and there are no serious marks. The reverse has a single abrasion that exposes the white metal, but otherwise is finished with a presumably artificial patina that speaks to a degree of care in producing this piece. This is especially so when comparing it to the very similar Norweb specimen which had no such finishing.Ex William Spohn Baker Collection, to the Historical Society of Pennsylvania by bequest, November 15, 1897.
