Circa 1860 copy of the Getz "Half Dollar" by William Idler. Musante GW-27, Baker-25K. Silver. MS-63 (PCGS).34.0 mm. 194.3 grains. A pleasing specimen of this popular fantasy piece struck in silver. The obverse is nicely reflective with soft mottled pastel toning accenting the otherwise light silver gray surfaces. The reverse is stunningly colorful with a burst of rose at the center that gives way to vivid blue, green and golden iridescence moving toward the rim. Deeply reflective with a few obverse hairlines, the reverse being the more protected side as this piece sat in Baker’s cabinet for the better part of a century.Ex William Spohn Baker Collection, to the Historical Society of Pennsylvania by bequest, November 15, 1897.
