1879 Liberty Head Eagle. MS-63 (PCGS).A frosty and fully original example with honey-orange peripheral highlights to otherwise rose-gold surfaces. Circulation strike eagle production at the Philadelphia Mint continued to rise through 1879, the year seeing a mintage of 384,740 pieces. This is not a plentiful issue, however, for the vast majority of examples succumbed to the rigors of commerce. One of the relatively few Choice Mint State examples known to PCGS, this attractively original coin would make a fitting addition to an advanced gold cabinet.
