1775 Contemporary Counterfeit Farthing. George III English Type. Double Struck. EF-40.40.9 grains. Chocolate brown with lighter golden tones where the original mint color was last to fade. One strike is on center, the other strike is 60% off-center and rotated, though its difficult to determine which strike came first! Bold 1775 still clearly visible, with the distinctive "J" shaped numeral 1. Contemporary counterfeit farthings are far rarer than counterfeit halfpence, and by extension, so are errors on this smaller denomination. From the Jane Collection.
