About Uncirculated.An untoned silver white example with frosty design elements set against a backdrop of mirrored reflectivity in the fields. Light high point rub to the central devices and wispy handling marks in the fields are noted. The Crystal Palace Exposition was the first "International" exposition held in America. The Crystal Palace, based on an earlier Crystal Palace in England, was located in the area of what is now Bryant Park in New York City. The Palace itself opened to the public -- at fifty-cents admission cost -- on July 14, 1853, and was open intermittently until October 5, 1858, when the building was destroyed by fire.
