CHINA. Shanxi. Medal of Honor, Third Class, ND (ca. 1912-26). VERY FINE. 61.5 mm; 30.75 gms. Obverse: "3rd class honor medal"; Reverse: "Military governor of Shansi Yen". A nice wholesome problem free example with attractive golden grey patina. Governor Yen Hsi-shan (Yan Xishan) was a warlord who ruled Shansi province in northwest China from 1911-49. Based on the title and style of the crossed flag we can circa date this piece to the early Republican era.
