CONSTANS II with CONSTANTINE IV, 641-668. AV Solidus (4.36 gms), Carthage Mint, Dated IY 15 (656/7). NGC MS, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 4/5.S-1041. Obverse: Crowned and draped facing busts of Constans, wearing long beard, and Constantine; Reverse: Cross potent set upon three steps; I-P across field; IЄ//CONOB. A rather scarce type, this charming issue was struck on a smaller and more compact flan than is typically encountered with Byzantine solidi, though entirely consistent with the Carthaginian issues of the time. Highly lustrous and fairly well centered.
