PORTUGAL. 3750 Reis (1/2 Peca), 1831. Miguel I. NGC AU-58.KM-396; Fr-139. A RARE and exceptionally difficult coin in any grade, this piece emanates from a mintage of just 225 specimens. Some light rub on the high points along with a few scattered hairlines, but otherwise offering a most pleasing brilliance. Incorrectly noted on the holder as 3200 Reis, the previously valuation of the 1/2 Peca.Miguel was the younger brother of king Pedro IV who attempted to usurp the rights of Pedros daughter Maria II. This denomination, variously called a meia Peca, 3200 Reis or 2 Escudos, was revalued to 3750 Reis in 1826.
