AUSTRIA. Taler, 1708-IMH. Vienna Mint. Joseph I. NGC MS-64.Dav-1013; KM-1444; Vogl-251/I. A highly attractive example of a SCARCE type in any grade, let alone in this lofty mint state designation. Piece exhibits rich old cabinet tone with hard slate patina, parts with hints of a blue sheen, in the peripherals and devices of the obverse. In contrast, the open fields and high points of the designs features display a lovely dove to medium grey tone. The reverse is a bit more even exhibiting an attractive mottled russet patina over medium grey surfaces highlighted by blue, purple and red iridescent hues. A lovely example with good eye appeal worthy of a premium bid.
