The Series of 1899 $1 Silver Certificates are known as Black Eagle notes due to the bold portrayal of our national bird at center on the face. The engraving is officially titled Eagle of the Capitol and was earlier used on $10 Interest Bearing Notes and $10 Compound Interest Notes. Small portraits of Lincoln and Grant flank SILVER CERTIFICATE at bottom center. A bold blue overprint is featured with a large 1 counter at left and scalloped Treasury Seal at right.Boldly printed serial number B1A is prominently featured at the lower left and upper right. The paper is well margined and crisp with just some light corner handling holding this note from a full uncirculated grade. Still this remains an undeniably important note which would be a highlight in all but the most elite collections.
