PA-222b. Pennsylvania. April 10, 1777. 20 Shillings. PCGS Currency Choice New 63 PPQ.An undervalued series and type in this lofty state. The majority of red and black notes from this issue circulated widely. No 1777 In Red and Black sheets or multiples, to our knowledge, survived to get cut later from the Haseltine-Chapman-Raymond-Boyd holdings. Also, it is noteworthy that the Newman Collection contained no fully Uncirculated notes from this colorful series. This was conservatively graded in our opinion several years back. It boasts a rich red face frame and is fully margined on all sides. Boldly printed with deep red back center. Not rare in lesser grades, however, very rare in this top condition. The Boyd note was Extremely Fine only and realized $1,150. Ex Distinguished Collection where it realized $1,380.00 in our March 2014 and was purchased previously in 1988.
